Our weaving course „Ancient Silky Shine – Recreated“ combines what Krefeld
has to offer in terms of textile cultural heritage: The Haus der Seidenkultur and the Deutsches Textilmuseum Krefeld offer a specially developed weaving course under the experienced guidance of textile archaeologist Barbara Thomas.
Complex patterned textiles from antiquity (taqueté and samit) will be analyzed and rewoven together. At the end of the course week, you will take home samples you have woven yourself – and a great deal of knowledge about the production of complex sample fabrics from antiquity. The course will be held in German (Sept 19-23, 2022) and in English (Sept 26-30, 2022).
